Bespoke Holiday Itinerary / Experience Tour

This itinerary provides the opportunity to experience the magical ancient history and stunning volcanic scenery of Java, and to get away from Bali's often over crowded South Coast to visit the more remote pleasures of Ubud and the North Coast. You will be staying in an excellent range of unique, superior level, accommodation.

The holiday starts in the historic city of Yogyakarta with three active days exploring the city and the awe inspiring Prambanan and Borobudur temples. You will then head to Bromo in East Java and the dramatic Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park. After flying to Bali you will visit Bali's cultural capital of Ubud, enjoy a peaceful stay on an idyllic white-sand beach and have time to relax in the hills overlooking Lovina.

DAY 1

Depart London Heathrow for Yogyakarta, Java

DAYS 2, 3 & 4 JOGLO PLAWANG, YOGJAKARTA

Arrive in Yogyakarta and be met by your chauffeur, guide and private car for the short drive to the outskirts of the city and a three night stay at Joglo Plawang, Yogyakarta. This is a peaceful boutique hotel that offers relaxation in between the sightseeing. During your stay you will have a guided tour of the historical city, a sunset tour of the beautiful Hindu Prambanan Temple followed by an evening dance performance and a sunrise tour of the majestic Borobudur Temple, a serious contender for the title of eighth wonder of the world. (3 nights, Bed and Breakfast)

DAYS 5 & 6€“ JAVA BANANA, BROMO

Take the early morning Sancaka Express train to East Java, a great way to take in the scenery of this truly unique island, before being picked up and driven to Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park. This remote and highly volcanic region is an area of truly spectacular and at times unworldly beauty. Java Banana Bromo is located 2,000 metres above sea level in the lush lower elevations of the park, offering amazing vistas of Mount Bromo and the various other peaks in the vicinity. The following morning you will depart early to climb Penanjakan Mountain in time to see the breathtaking spectacle of the sun rising over Mount Bromo. You will then climb the 240 steps to the peak of Mount Bromo itself to enjoy the magnificent views of its crater lake and the surrounding mountains. (2 nights, Bed and Breakfast)

DAYS 7, 8 & 9 UMA UBUD, UBUD

After a short flight to Denpasar, Bali, you will be taken into the foothills of the central mountains for three nights on the outskirts of Ubud, Bali's cultural capital. Famous for its markets, temples, great selection of restaurants and its traditional Balinese architecture, Ubud town is a great place for private exploration. The town is surrounded by steep river valleys and glistening paddy fields and we have included a walking tour of a local village. Uma Ubud is a high-end property nestled in the lush hills of Ubud. (3 nights, Bed and Breakfast)

DAYS 10, 11 & 12 €“ MENJANGAN RESORT, PEMUTERAN

Following a beautiful drive through the dramatic volcanic mountains of central and northern Bali you will arrive at the idyllic and remote Menjangan Resort, surrounded by the 382 hectares of forest that is the West Bali National Park. Recently restored to a style and grandeur that befits this stunning location, this is one of our favourite properties in Indonesia. The beach villas are situated on a picturesque white-sand lagoon and a three night stay offers real peace and tranquillity. The famous snorkeling and diving spot of Menjangan Island is a short boat ride away and the resort offers a wide range of activities including boat trips, walks in the forest and horse riding. DAYS 13, 14 & 15 THE DAMAI, LOVINA

The holiday will finish with 3 nights at The Damai, a stylish hillside retreat overlooking the coastal town of Lovina. The rooms are stylish and the peaceful hotel is surrounded by beautiful gardens with great views and a lovely restaurant. A dolphin watching trip is included (in season) and for the more active there are a number of lovely walks in the surrounding hills and mountains.

DAY 16

You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the airport in time for your return flight to London.
