Shinta Mani,
Siem Reap

Info : Shinta Mani
Shinta Mani is without doubt one of the best hotels in Siem Reap. This charming 18 room boutique hotel, located in the town centre, is finely styled and luxuriously appointed, offering comfort and style in substantial measure.
Spacious, bright and airy, the rooms are decorated in traditional Khmer style and elegantly furnished. Amenities are first-rate and include free wireless internet and an art gallery with changing exhibitions.
The fine dining restaurant is one of Gourmet Magazines Worlds Best Hotel Dining Rooms. The restaurant has both air-conditioned indoor seating and romantic outdoor amongst the lush garden. Food is delightful and prices reasonable considering the quality. Cooking classes in Khmer Cuisine are regularly offered for those who develop a taste for the Cambodian flavour. The hotel has a good bar and library lounge to compliment the restaurant.
The small swimming pool is a real delight. Bordered by rooms on one side and a thatched roof spa on the other, it is literally a few steps from your bed. The in-house spa offers the usual treatments and therapies, as well as the more unusual including healing stones body work and aromatherapy body wraps.
Staff are particularly friendly and a relaxed atmosphere pervades. The hotel is small enough to be intimate yet large enough to lose yourself in.
What really sets this hotel apart is its Institute of Hospitality. Working on private projects and schemes with other Non-Government Organisations, the institute is committed to improving the welfare of local Cambodian people. An example is the hotels cooking school. The scheme takes young adults from areas of high risk. The hotel also works on re-housing and community development projects. Much of the operation is run on a not-for-profit basis. The hotel has won significant awards for responsible tourism and guests are encouraged to go into rural areas and visit these projects. The hotel does not preach its methods nor does it resemble an NGO you would hardly be aware of the activities at first glance.
It is a poignant reminder of how high-end tourism can be used to give guests a fantastic and luxurious time while also developing the communities in which we travel.
Rating
Comfort - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, whether it is character, service or excellent facilities.
