A day trip through Phnom Penh will reveal some of the city's magnificent history.

The tour starts at the city’s School of Fine Arts, a cultural institution dedicated to teaching children music and traditional ‘Apsara’ dancing. Next is the stunning complex of elegant palaces and pagodas at the Royal Palace. Overlooking the Mekong River, the complex contains many sites within its walled borders. The Pagoda of the Emerald Buddha and Silver Pagoda are favourites, with a floor of 5000 silver tiles and a magnificent 17th century Buddha made from baccarat crystal.

In the afternoon you will visit the country’s National Museum, home to a treasure trove of artifacts and art. The museum is best known and admired for the displays of Khmer art and sculptures from both the Angkorian and pre-Angkorian eras. Later you visit the city’s Central Market and Russian Market – an imposing art-deco structure and home to a variety of stalls selling goods at great prices. Great for soaking up the atmosphere.

The tour can be taken as a half day, choosing either the morning or afternoon section, and combined with the half day Tuol Sleng & Chueng Ek tour.
