Vietnam Family Adventure holiday Tour

Info : Vietnam Family Adventure

This itinerary is perfect for younger children or that final gateway with your teenagers before they finally leave you in peace! We have worked hard to provide a special price for families with children below 12 years old with discounted flights, tours and transfers. If you have teenage children and sharing rooms isn’t ideal, then there are some great 2 bedroom villas on the coast too.

Starting in the north and the beautiful arty city of Hanoi, you’ll have plenty of time to settle into this buzzing country. Escaping up to Sapa and the mountainous hill tribe stations will give a quick contrast and you’ll get your first insight into real village life. Next, back to Hanoi on the overnight train (an adventure in itself) and head towards the stunning Halong bay, where you’ll board a traditional junk boat and cruise around the dramatic limestone karsts overnight. Moving down south, it’s time to learn about Vietnamese culture and explore the quirky quiet town of Hue. Cruise up the river and stroll around town. Driving over the magnificent cloudy pass offering some of Vietnams most breath-taking scenery brings you to the all-encompassing Hoi An – relax on the beach, hire bikes and cycle around the local countryside, soak up the culture in the colonial old town or do it all. After a flight from Hoi An (Da Nang airport) to Saigon, spend the last few days visiting the historic Cu Chi tunnels, learn about the delta life and floating villages near Cai Be, or have a wacky day out at the local (very Asian!) waterpark.

This itinerary of course can be done in reverse, but works well flying into either the north, or south, and out of the other. It’s great with both older and younger children and can be tailored exactly for your families’ preferences in terms of activities.

Day-to-Day Itinerary : Vietnam Family Adventure

Day 1

Depart U.K (normally London) for Hanoi

Day 2

Arrive in Hanoi, one of Asia’s most exciting cities – a real Asian mixture of old world charm and modern bustle. Free time to explore the old quarter and main tourist sites, or relax at your hotel.

Day 3

A fascinating visit to the Duong lam village. Light walking and cycling around this protected village, with endless rice padi fields. Capture a real insight into local life, and have lunch hosted by one of the villagers. In the evening a cyclo-cab will take your entire family to see the Water puppets, in this very unique traditional performance. Not to be missed!

Day 4, 5 and 6

Free day to explore the rest of Hanoi, before being transferred to Hanoi train station for an overnight sleeper train up to the northern hills of SAPA (4 berth cabin) – Transfer to the Topas Eco lodge for 2 full days of exploring – activities can include market visits, local villages, moderates treks, waterfalls, mountain biking – something for the whole family. Late night train on Day 6 back to Hanoi.

Day 7 and 8

Transfer to the stunning Halong Bay where you’ll board a small junk for an overnight adventure cruising around the dramatic scenery of limestone karsts. Beautiful lagoons, beaches and caves can all be explored, some even by kayak. Junks range from basic to very luxury. Back to Hanoi on Day 8 and straight to the airport for a flight to Hue. Overnight just a little outside Hue town itself.

Day 9, 10

Hue has a young vibrant feel, and there is a couple of options for explorations - The great ruins of Hue, may be construed as suspiciously educational by certain parties, so a trip to the Bach Ma National park is a great alternative, where you can do some light trekking, swim in lagoons and see the 300 m Do Quyen waterfall. Overnight in Hue.

Day 11, 12, 13, 14

The journey between Hue and Hoi An is amazing – the coastal road has phenomenal views and the coastline is amazingly beautiful, particularly over the Cloudy Pass. The journey takes 3.5 hours and you will be dropped at your beach hotel, where you spend the next few days having relaxing beach time, interspersed with a family fun cooking school, and riding bicycles (or cyclos for the less active) around the country side of Hoi An – a ideal way to explore local traditions and the nomadic farming way of life.

Day 15, 16, 17

An early morning flight down to the hectic Ho Chi Minh city (you’ll be very accustomed by now to the pace of life of the Vietnamese people) where you can spend your final few days exploring the Mekong Delta, a completely contrasting way of life to the mountainous north, the famous Cu Chi tunnels or catch up on some souvenir shopping. Either a day or overnight flight back to the U.K depending on the airline
