From Saigon to the Mekong Delta, Hoi An, Hue and Sapa, magnificent Hanoi, gorgeous Halong Bay and Nha Trang - this tour covers it all. Our private guides and transfers make the tricky logistics of a trip like this work seamlessly and we'll include plenty of time for relaxation and your own independent exploration too.
This itinerary works from south to north, but could just as easily work in advance. Talk to your consulatant and they would be happy to put something together for you to have a look at. As with all of tours, we can tailor make it to suit at no additional cost.
This tour used some superb hotels and some of the best experiences in Vietnam - from the Bassac Cruise on the back waters of the Mekong, to the Red Dragon boat off the main route near Halong Bay and the overnight train up to Sapa.

Day-to-Day Itinerary : Grand Tour of Vietnam
DAYS 1, 2, 3 & 4 - SAIGON
Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Vietnam.
Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City (known locally as Saigon), a city of amazing contrasts. Accommodation is at The Duxton Hotel for 3 nights
We include a highlights tour here where youll visit the fascinating former Presidential Palace, History Museum and Notre Dame. We also include a full day (with lunch ) to the Cu Chi Tunnels and the otherworldly Cao Dai Temple.
DAYS 5 & 6 - MEKONG DELTA
Travel by road from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong Delta region where you will board the Bassac Cruise for a fantastic 2 day journey through some of the smaller canals of the Mekong between Cai Be and and Can Tho. Accommodation is on board the converted rice barge in comfortable cabins and all meals are included.
Back to Saigon for a short flight to Dalat. Arrive and transfer to your villa at Ana Mandara.
DAYS 6 & 7 - DALAT
Your guide will meet you for a tour of Dalat. The surrounding countryside and town provide beautiful views! Overnight at Ana Mandara Dalat.
DAYS 8, 9 & 10 - NHA TRANG
You will travel on from Dalat through the lush mountain pass to the sparkling coastal plains up to of Nha Trang. Stay for 3 nights at the Evason Ana Mandara and Six Senses Spa.
Whilst in Nha Trang we include a relaxing cruise on the turquoise waters of the South China Sea (lunch included).
DAYS 11, 12 & 13 - HOI AN
A short flight from Nha Trang to Danang and on arrival you will have a guided tour of the local area and town of Hoi An before you are dropped off at your Hoi An hotel. You're free to relax, enjoy the town of Hoi An or visit the local beaches. We can arrange a Vietnamese cookery class for you here too or a trip to My Son. Stay 3 nights at the Hoi An Riverside Resort & Spa or we can arrange an upgrade to a beach hotel.
DAYS 14 & 15 - HUE
Your guide will meet you for your transfer from Hoi An to Hue via the Hai Van Pass or Cloudy Pass. Youll stay 2 nights at Pilgrimage Village. Whilst in Hue we include a full day tour to the impressive Imperial Citadel and the surrounding tombs (lunch included).
We can also include a full day out of Hue to experience the remnants of war in the region still known by many as the DMZ (Demilitarised Zone) please ask us for the supplementary cost. Here you have the option to visit the fascinating tunnels at Vinh Moc which accommodated civilian families trying to survive the constant terrifying aerial bombardment of the war.
DAYS 16 & 17 - HANOI
A short flight from Hue to Hanoi where our guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure in Hanoi and overnight at Maison DHanoi Hotel.
The next day, enjoy an orientation of the tree-lined streets of Hanoi, resplendent with French colonial architecture and the winding alleys of the old town.
This evening you will be transferred to Hanoi Station where you will join the overnight train to Sapa. The Fanxipan carriage provides comfortable private sleeping accommodation.
DAYS 17, 18, 19 & 20 - SAPA
Overnight on the train and arrive in Lao Cai early morning for a transfer on to Sapa, nestled among the Hoang Lien Son Mountains near the Chinese border. Accommodation is at the centrally located Chau Long hotel.
2 days to trek or explore the hill tribes and markets of the region before transferring back to Lao Cai and boarding the overnight sleeper train back to Hanoi.
DAYS 20 & 21 - HALONG BAY
Arrive in Hanoi from the train and travel out to Halong Bay, a dense cluster of limestone islands rising spectacularly from the ocean. You will set sail on the bay on board a traditional junk boat, staying overnight in a comfortable cabin with all meals included. Transfer back to Hanoi on day 21 for your last night at The Maison DHanoi.
DAY 22 - HANOI
Your trip ends today with your flight home alternatively travel onwards for a beach extension in Vietnam or Thailand.
