This itinerary is for the more active and adventurous traveller. Cycling over 400km in 10 days is not only a challenge, but an opportunity to truly explore these two wonderful countries on the greatest form of transportation known to man the bicycle! Gain a true insight into the traditional society of the Mekong Delta, the lush and fertile region with its floating villages and markets. Heading north into Cambodia the tour takes in the city of Phnom Penh and a boat trip into Siem Reap, where the bike is the perfect way to discover the treasures of Angkor. The trip will end with a few days of well earned relaxation on the beautiful rainforest covered Thai island of Koh Chang.

Day-to-Day Itinerary : Cycling Vietnam to Cambodia

DAY 1 - HO CHI MINH CITY (SAIGON)

A chance to explore the bustling Ho Chi Minh City with an overnight stay at the Elios Hotel.


DAYS 2, 3 & 4 - THE MEKONG DELTA

After a transfer out of Saigon and into the Delta, the first day of cycling is a gentle introductory 40km, off the tourist trail to the unspoilt outback market town of Tra Vinh. Cycling on to Can Tho, the biggest city in the Delta, Day 3 is the start of a four day stretch of concentrated cycling. The next day sees the tour move through huge expanses of paddy fields into the diverse border town of Chau Doc. Tra Vinh, Can Tho and Chau Doc are fascinating towns in the heart of the Mekong Delta, dominated by water with excellent opportunities to experience real Vietnamese life and visit numerous floating markets.


DAYS 5 & 6 - SOUTH CAMBODIA

After crossing the border into Cambodia, the route moves through the pancake flat plains of South Cambodia with an overnight stay in the town of Takeo, before proceeding alongside the Mekong River and into Phnom Penh.


DAYS 7 & 8 - PHNOM PENH

Two days of well deserved rest! Day 7 is in Phnom Penh with an opportunity to visit the disturbing Killing Fields and Toul Sleng, giving a fascinating insight into the tragic modern history of Cambodia. The following day incorporates a boat trip up the Mekong and through the vast Tonle Sap Lake into Siem Reap.


DAYS 9 & 10 - SIEM REAP

2 days cycling around the majestic temples of Angkor. Youll visit the most famous of the temples, Angkor Wat, as well as Angkor Thom, Bayon and also Ta Prohm, overgrown with the roots and limbs of Banyan Trees and left as it was when Frech explorers first stumbled upon it. Cycling is the perfect way to get away from the tourists and explore this 400 km2 area with its countless temples and magnificent relics of a once glorious civilisation.


DAY 11 - BATTEMBANG

The final day of cycling takes you to the city of Battembang with its well preserved colonial architecture.


DAYS 12, 13 & 14 - KOH CHANG

Time for some rest and relaxation!

A transfer to Koh Chang will be followed by three nights of free time taking in the delights of this beautiful island. Whether it is the diverse and abundant wildlife of the interior, the beautiful white sandy beaches, the lively night life, tranquillity during the day, or any number of activities, Koh Chang is a wonderful place to recuperate after the strains of 10 days cycling.


DAYS 15 & 16 - BANGKOK

A morning transfer to Bangkok before a free day and night in this most lively of cities. The following day sees you transferred to the airport for your return to the U.K.
