The Legend Chiang Rai is a contemporary resort hotel on the outskirts of Chiang Rai town. The hotel is just a few minutes drive from the towns night markets and restaurants, yet surrounded by views of mountainous landscapes and the sounds of singing bird giving guests the best of both worlds!

Located directly on the Mae Kok River, the resort boasts 78 luxurious studios. Superior Studios are decorated in an open, airy style, with centrally placed kink size beds and indoor and outdoor bathrooms, sala living area and day beds. Dvd players, music systems, internet and satellite television are standard. Deluxe Studios are similar but have better views of the river. Grand Deluxe Studios are larger still and come with outdoor, over-sized, jet stream bathtubs. The one and two bedroom Pool Villas offer even larger living areas and have private plunge pools which overlook the river.

There is a great spa offering a modern menu of treatments and therapies, both indoor and out. A large, free form swimming pool on river bank has great views of the green countryside surrounding the resort. There are two restaurants; the outdoor Sala Rim Nam which serves a variety of cuisines, and the Ou Kao, a small 25 cover eatery serving speciality Thai cuisine. Excursions from the resort include river trips, rafting, elephant riding and trekking, trips to the Golden Triangle and temple visits.

The Legend Chiang Rai is not only good value, but a good option for anyone wanting to stop over in Chiang Rai, perhaps en-route to Laos or for exploring the north of Thailand. The resort is also good for groups with mixed interests who would enjoy the remote location with the amenities of town close at hand.

Superior - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
