Koyao Island Resort,
Ko Yao Island

Description : Koyao Island Resort
The delightfully understated Koyao Island Resort is set in a tranquil, location on the sleepy island of Ko Yao, a short boat ride from either Phuket or Krabi. With wide beach frontage and no immediate neighbours, the resort sits above a quiet, white-sand beach with views across the Andaman Sea and its picturesque limestone rock outcrops.
The resort has 16 large villas spread across a grassy garden. The thatched-roof villas face the sea and are fitted with roll-down blinds to provide shade and privacy or sun and space, depending on your mood. The design fuses Thai and Balinese architectural influences, with wood and polished cement used to create large living areas and bedrooms that are both beautiful and practical. There is no air-conditioning - instead the design allows the sea breeze to cool the rooms.
The resort offers one or two bedroom villas. Each has sofas, chairs, fridge, large open spaces and outdoor bathrooms. A long infinity swimming pool runs alongside the beach and offers a splendid view of the Andaman Sea and surrounding islands. There is a restaurant, and separate bar. The excellent spa offers a variety of treatments.
The resort is notably relaxed and blends the concepts of luxury resort and private retreat with great effect. The friendly staff are there to help at all times but will leave you to your own devices.
The island has escaped mass development thanks to the large tides that make swimming awkward at many times during the day. The Koyao Island Resort is lucky to occupy one of the few stretches of sandy beach where swimming is always possible. The beach itself is outstanding, with soft white sand and rocky coves at either end.
Ko Yao is a charming little island with a sleepy, laid back atmosphere. There are only a handful of small roads linking the villages and the overall atmosphere is tranquil. This is an ideal place to really get away from it all. There is little nightlife, but in a location as beautiful and remote as this, very few will need it. Small, discreet and relaxed, this is a unique place, ideal for couples and families, where laid-back island life harmoniously meets understated luxury. Recommended.

Luxury - There are very few hotels in our 'luxury' category. Hotels in this category must have absolutely everything anyone could want and really be aiming for the stars. These hotels generally go well above and beyond and they would always be at the very top end of the market. These are for clients looking for that extra special place.
