The Indigo Pearl fuses historic detail with chic contemporary design to create what must be one of Phukets best and most unique large hotels. Built on a former tin mine, the resort imaginatively captures elements of the islands past with the style that has come to symbolise the present.

Located in a an excellent spot on Nai Yang beach, the hotels rooms and facilities are interspersed through large landscaped gardens and the low rise constructions leave a footprint that belies the actual scale of the property.

The 277 rooms are divided into numerous categories - Kelly Quarters, Plantation Villas, Pearl Bed Suites, Private Pool Pavilion, Private Garden Pavilions and Pearl shells.

Facilities are superb and rival any hotel in this class on the island. Three excellent swimming pools provide a range of options for cooling off from the heat whilst the excellent beach is good for swimming and is well equipped with sun loungers and drinks service from the hotel staff. The hotel has a good spa as well as a fitness suite, yoga pavilion and tennis courts. Theres also snooker, pool and an on-site diving centre. For families the kids club and playground will also be of interest.

Food and dining options are broad and varied. The hotel has no fewer than 8 outlets offering a variety of cuisines in different styled settings. Breakfasts are worthy of special mention, as is the legendary Sunday Brunch (with free flowing cocktails and international fine-dining) which is well worth booking in advance. There is also a great in-house cooking school where you can learn some of the delicious dishes you will no doubt sample during your stay.

The Indigo Pearl is one of the best hotels in its class and manages to maintain an intimate and relaxed atmosphere that most hotels of this size can only dream of.

Deluxe - Deluxe hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A deluxe hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.
