Chiva Som is a health resort and spa of world renown. Winner of a host of top international awards and long popular amongst celebrities, this Hua Hin resort is dedicated to revitalising mind, body and spirit for total wellbeing and vitality.

It all starts with the arrival, when guests receives a âwellnessâ consultation to determine the best course of treatment for their desired goals. The offerings include medical and holistic regimens for specific health issues from relaxation and energy treatments to blood and stress tests. Fitness facilities are tailored to challenge and encourage and include regular yoga, tai chi, aerobics, watersports and pilates sessions. The luxurious spa treatments offer the ultimate in personal pampering. Activities and treatments run on a roster which changes daily.

The resort,spread over 12 acres of coastal land in the southern end of Hua Hin beach, has been designed with simplicity in mind . There is an indoor swimming pool and a large outdoor pool which looks out to sea. The interior of the resort surrounds a beautifully landscaped lake and lush tropical gardens. Sold on a full-board basis, Chiva Som serves gourmet spa cuisine in both its restaurants. Sugar has been substituted for honey and the only alcoholic beverages are fine wines and champagne, and are only available in the evening. The exquisite food has won many awards and is prepared with a well-balanced diet in mind. Indeed, food is at the centre of the Chiva Som approach to well-being and many ingredients are grown in the resort's organic garden.

Even without the incredible selection of treatments and therapies, Chiva Som would stand up as a travel destination in its own right. The resort is incredibly private - outside guests cannot enter the property and the use of cameras and mobile phones in the outdoor areas is prohibited.

Deluxe - Deluxe hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A deluxe hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.
