Day-to-Day Itinerary : An Alternative Thailand

Day 1

Overnight flight to Bangkok

DAY 2 bangkok

Arrive in Bangkok and overnight in your hotel.

DAY 3 kanchanaburi

Depart from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi early the next morning, and visit Bridge over the River Kwai, the JEATH Museum and the Thailand Burma Railway Centre. Continue onto Pakseang pier and board a long tail boat upstream to reach the Jungle Rafts Resort. On arrival at Jungle Raft, check in room and rest of the day is at your own.

DAY 4 hintok

Check out of your room and take a boat back to Paksaeng pier. Meet your driver on arrival, and drive to the Don-Rak War Cemetery which is located opposite Kanchanaburi Railway station. From there take a train on the Death Railway from the Bridge station to Nan Tok Station. Continue to your camp at Hintok River and the rest of the day is at your own leisure. Dinner is at your camp

DAY 5 hintok

Morning visit to the Hell Fire Pass and museum, a part of the Death Railway cut through the stone mountain. Hike along the walking trail which follows the alignment of the original Burma-Thailand railway from Hellfire Pass to beyond Compressor Cutting. A fun hike of 4 or km which doesn't sound like much but several steep scrambles mean sturdy footwear and plenty of water is required. Dinner is at the camp.

DAY 6 hintok

A full day excursion today to the Erawan Waterfalls, located in the Namtok Erawan National Park; a mountainous landscape surrounded by fields of green. The falls are situated amongst rough jungle and are reputed to be the finest in Thailand. You can follow a trekking path inside the national park and cool off with a swim in one of the many emerald rock pools. Around the park are also several caves where you can explore and see some weird and wonderful limestone. If time permits, you can also visit The Phra That Cave which is located twelve kilometres from the National Park. Inside the cave are beautiful stalactites and stalagmites distributed among 4 big rooms. Lunch is included.

DAYS  7-13 beach

Check out your room drive back to Bangkok Airport for your short domestic flight. The choice is whether you fly to Koh Yao Noi on the west coast or Koh Chang on the east coast for the beach part of your holiday, your consultant can help you decide.

If it’s Koh Yao then you’ll fly to Phuket airport from where you’ll get a boat over to the island, if its Koh Chang then you’ll fly to Trat airport from where you’ll get a ferry.

The development has been kept low key on both islands but Koh Yao Noi is smaller with only a handful of hotels.  Both islands have plenty to see and do whilst retaining a paradise island feel.  Koh Chang has a greater range of places to eat and bars if you want them, but is peaceful too.  On Koh Yao, the majority of the island is still in its original pristine condition so a stay here is a real castaway island experience. Both islands have tropical rain forest and vibrant coral reefs but have subtly different seasons that affect not only the weather itself but the clarity of the water, therefore the time of year you intend to travel could influence your choice.

DAYS 13, 14 bangkok

At the end, feeling suitably relaxed, fly home via a two night stop in Bangkok to enjoy the vibrant city and pick up some last minute bargains!
