Info : Luang Say Cruise

The Luang Say cruise is a two day journey down the Mekong River on board a renovated barge. The journey begins at the northern border town of Huai Say to Luang Prabang, the UNESCO world heritage site. The Mekong is one of the great waterways of the world; running from the eastern Tibetan plateau, through Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Its immense significance as a natural border, supply route and source of food cannot be overestimated.

The Luang Say boat cruises gently through the rushing waters and dramatic mountain scenery. En-route to Luang Prabang the boat stops off at a couple of ethnic minority villages to experience the local way of life. You may also get a chance to see the giant Mekong catfish if you are lucky.

The boat is luxuriously renovated with cushioned seats and tables. Staff are attentive and serve you with a flowing supply of drinks and snacks. Tasty Asian food is prepared fresh on the boat and served as you cruise. Before arrival in Luang Prabang you also visit the caves of Pak Ou, with their thousands of Buddha statues.

The boat stops overnight in Pak Beng, a rustic little town about half way between Huay Say and Luang Prabang. Stay in the Luang Say Lodge, a charming bungalow resort on the banks of the river.
