Bespoke Holiday Itinerary / Experience Tour

This itinerary is perfect for both younger children or teenagers still in school and restricted by the holidays, and is organised so it works best during the weather pattern of Vietnam in August. Although generally a wetter time, it’s actually a great time to hit the beach at Hoi An. We have worked hard to provide a special price for families with children below 12 years old with discounted flights, tours and transfers. If you have teenage children and sharing rooms isn’t ideal, then there are some great 2 bedroom villas on the coast too.

You'll fly into the  north and the charming old Asian city of Hanoi. We include a Hanoi city orinentation tour and a water puppets performance which should entertain all ages of the family. A visit to Vietnam has to include the amazing Halong bay. You’ll cruise on a smaller junk bunk with family orientated interconnecting cabins and get away from the crowds.

An overnight train journey is a real adventure and takes you down to Hue, the quirky small quiet town. The pool is great here and the weather should be hot so there is plenty of room for relaxing in between some fantastic cultural exploration.

Driving over the magnificent cloudy pass offering some of Vietnams most breath-taking scenery brings you to Hoi An – relax on the beach, hire bikes and cycle around the local countryside, soak up the culture in the colonial old town or do it all. After a flight from Hoi An (Da Nang airport) to Saigon, spend the last few days visiting the historic Cu Chi tunnels, learn about the delta life and floating villages near Cai Be, or have a wacky day out at the local (very Asian!) waterpark.

This itinerary works best starting in the north and heading down south, with some beach time scheduled at Hoi An, in the middle of the holiday. It focuses on smaller, luxury hotels with interconnecting rooms where possible. All the hotels will most likely have pools. Day 1

Depart U.K (normally London) for Hanoi

Day 2, 3

Arrive in Hanoi, one of Asia’s most exciting cities – a real Asian mixture of old world charm and modern bustle. A guide will show you around the city, with a cyclo tour to keep the children entertained, and tickets to the infamous water puppets.

Days 4, 5

Transfer to the stunning Halong Bay where you’ll board a small junk for an overnight adventure cruising around the dramatic scenery of limestone karsts. Beautiful lagoons, beaches and caves can all be explored, some even by kayak. You’ll be abroad the Red Dragon, which goes off the beaten track, only have 5 cabins, two of which interconnect. End of day 5 you will board the overnight train in a private cabin towards Hue.

Days 6, 7

Hue has a young vibrant feel, but is quite small and quiet so is easy to explore. It’s home to the great ruins of Hue, with the citadel and imperial city. This maybe somewhat educational for some members of the party, so time wandering around or visiting a nearby national park could be a good alternative.

Day 8, 9, 10 and 11

The journey between Hue and Hoi An is amazing – the coastal road has phenomenal views and the coastline is amazingly beautiful, particularly over the Cloudy Pass. The journey takes 3.5 hours and you will be dropped at your beach hotel, where you spend the next few days relaxing right on the beach directly from your hotel. You can include numerous tours, e.g. cycling around the countryside or a family friendly cooking school.

Days 12, 13, 14

An early morning flight down to the hectic Ho Chi Minh city where you can spend your final few days exploring the Mekong Delta, a completely contrasting way of life to the mountainous north and for something completely different, but typical for Asian families, a visit to a nearby waterpark. Some time for last minute souvenir shopping and then either a day or overnight flight back to the U.K.
