Description : A Vietnam Classic - Superior

This classic itinerary offers first time visitors the chance to experience the culture, flavours, images and warmth of Vietnam whilst staying in quality and characterful hotels.

The tour begins in bustling Ho Chi Minh City, takes in the picturesque world heritage sites of Hoi An and Hue and finishes in the northern city of Hanoi even allowing for a little relaxation along the way.

The itinerary incorporates visits to the famous Mekong Delta in the south and an overnight trip to spectacular Halong Bay in the north.

For those with less time this itinerary can be reduced by a day by taking a day trip to Halong Bay instead of overnight. For those with an few extra days to spare it can be extended to take in a train journey up to the mountainous regions around Sapa.

DAY 1

Fly overnight to Ho Chi Minh City

DAYS 2, 3 & 4

Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City and transfer to The Duxton hotel which is in an excellent location to explore this exciting city. Whilst in Ho Chi Minh City take a guided morning city tour and a trip out to the Cu Chi tunnels. On the third day a full day trip to Cai Be in the Mekong Delta is included, the day trip includes a local style lunch and a boat trip through the picturesque canals and fruit plantations.

DAYS 5, 6 & 7

You will be driven to the airport for a short morning flight up to Danang. On arrival your guide and driver will meet you for a tour of the Danang area and an introduction to Hoi An. Accommodation is at the Hoi An Riverside where you can relax in pleasant surroundings, hit the beach or head into town to see the sights and do some shopping. Hoi An is a great place to explore independently with its pretty lantern and camellia lined streets and excellent restaurants. We really recommend catching the colourful morning markets or even taking a cookery course here (ask us for details). Hoi An is famous for its numerous tailors who will copy or design clothes, the prices are fantastic and the range of silks and other materials is endless.

DAYS 8 & 9

Travel overland to Hue via the Hai Van âCloudyâ Pass, a spectacular three hour coastal drive with numerous photo opportunities on the way. On arrival you check in at the Pilgrimage Village. You will have a guided tour in Hue taking you to the historic Imperial City and famous tombs with lunch included. You can also hire bikes, take a cyclo ride (rickshaw) or enjoy a pleasant boat ride on the serene Perfume River. In low season we include a free third night in Hue.

DAYS 10, 11, 12 & 13

From Hue you fly to Hanoi and stay in a deluxe room at the Maison D'Hanoi in heart of the âOld Quarterâ. The old city is right on your doorstep and the Hoam Kiem Lake, a beautiful place to watch the sunset, is nearby. There are several museums, shops and excellent eateries along Hanois tree lined boulevards and its a great city to spend a few days in. During your time in Hanoi we include a half day city tour, a water puppets show and a 2 day, overnight trip to Halong Bay where you will cruise the spectacular bay and stay overnight on a traditional junk boat with all meals included. The Indochina Red Dragon Junk is small and very special and they work hard to avoid the crowds.
