An alternative to our Classic Tour, this itinerary offers a chance to get away from the usual routes and explore this wonderful country in a little more depth. A chance to take in its varied scenery and learn more about its contrasting history and interesting people than a standard tour.
This tour still includes some of the more obvious highlights like Siem Reap and Phnom Penh but also takes you through the remote waterways and ethnic jungle villages of Ban Lung in Ratanakiri provice. You'll have time to see the Irrawaddy dolphins on the Mekong River and you'll get to explore the interesting colonial market towns of Battambang and then towards the end of the tour, Kep.

Day-to-Day Itinerary : Cambodian Odyssey
Day 1:
Arrive at Siem Reap Airport where you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel.
Shinta Mani. 4 nights, inc Breakfast
Days 2-3:
Accompanied by a driver and a guide you have 2 days to explore the majestic Angkor temple complex with an afternoon visit of the floating villages of the Tonle Sap. You will have time to visit the main sites, including Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm and Bayon, and explore some of the lesser known temples.
Days 4-5:
Water levels permitting, you will take the 7 hour boat trip to Battambang. Otherwise you will be transferred by car.
La Villa. 2 nights, inc Breakfast
With your driver and guide you will have plenty of time to explore Battambang and the surrounding attractions.
Day 6:
After lunch you will drive to Phnom Penh. The journey takes approximately 5 hours.
Amanjaya. 2 nights, inc Breakfast
Day 7:
A full-day tour of Phnom Penh with a driver and a guide. During the morning you will visit the citys School of Fine Arts and the stunning Royal Palace complex and its Silver Pagoda and Emerald Buddha. After Lunch the tour takes in the National Museum and the art-deco Russian market.
Day 8:
A morning tour of the notorious Tuol Sleng and Choeung Ek, with a driver and a guide. Today both of these sites are a memorial dedicated to the victims of the Khmer Rouge. The tour is a very moving reminder of the horrors faced by Cambodians between 1975 and 1979.
After lunch you will drive to the provincial city of Kratie, which sits on the east bank of the River Mekong.
Oudom Sambath. 1 night, inc Breakfast
Day 9:
You have the chance to spot some Irrawaddy Dolphins with a morning boat trip on the River Mekong. This will be followed by a 5 hour transfer to Ban Lung.
Terres Rouge. 5 nights, inc Breakfast
Days 10-13:
With your driver and guide you have time to explore the remote jungle covered hills surrounding Ban Lung, the capital of Ratanakiri Province. Your choices here include relaxing, swimming in the nearby volcanic lake and various waterfalls, while further a field there are tribal villages and a national park.
Day 14:
A late departure to Stung Treng. The journey is approximately 3 hours and breaks up the long drive back to Phnom Penh.
Stung Treng Guesthouse. 1 night, inc Breakfast
Day 15:
A morning departure to Phnom Penh. The journey takes approximately 7 hours.
Amanjaya. 1 night, inc Breakfast
Days 16-18:
Morning departure with your driver and guide to the sleepy seaside resort of Kep. The journey takes approximately 3 hours and you will arrive in time for lunch.
Kep was the seaside resort of choice during the French colonial period and is only now beginning to be restored to its former glory.
Veranda Natural Resort. 3 nights, inc Breakfast
Days 19-21:
Today you will take the 3 hour transfer with your guide and driver to the beach resort of Sihanoukville. You will be left at your hotel.
A combination of bustling and idyllic beaches make Sihanoukville a great place for either a relaxing or active beach holiday.
Independence Hotel. 3 nights, inc Breakfast
Day 22:
Transfer to Phnom Penh airport for your return flight. The journey takes approximately 4 hours.
