Set amidst lush tropical forests an hour drive from Bagan, The Popa Mountain Resort is charming and peaceful retreat offering activity and relaxation in equal measure.
With spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, volcanic landscape and mesmerising Popa rock temple, the resort offers comfortableaccommodation and a range of quality facilties. The excellent wooden cabana rooms are split in Superior and Deluxe categories and offer spacious living areas and en-suite bathrooms.
Nestled in the edge of the hillside and surrounded by mature trees, the resort’s small infinity pool commands a spectacular view of the Popa rock temple – a remarkable complex of golden stupas perched atop a huge, jutting outcrop.
The Popa Mountain Resort has a charming dining room with outdoor terrace and viewpoint with amazing panoramic vistas. Other facilities include wifi internet, a small business centre, satellite tv in all rooms and thriving organic vegetable farm.
Quirky touches include a rabbit and tortoise pen, bizarre wooden primate carvings and even a karaoke room! The resort is spread over a large, densely forested area and the rooms are linked by a network of tree-clad pathways.
A number of hikes and walks are possible from the hotel and the resident guide can lead or suggest trails in the surrounding mountains and national park.

Superior - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
